Town in Pocono Mountains with a ‘walkable downtown’ is wonderful for retirement

If you are looking for a booming historic town in the mountains for retirement, this is one you should seriously consider.
Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, is touted as a top destination for retirement because of its historic walkable downtown with a rich food and arts scene as well as affordable housing.
The town is nestled into the picturesque Pocono Mountains with a mere population of under 6,000 residents. It is comparable to other highly-ranked retirement towns including Hamilton, Montana, near Missoula; Dillsboro, North Carolina, near Asheville; and New Braunsfels, Texas, near San Antonio.
Pennsylvania is a state touted for retirement with many other highly-ranking retirement towns and cities including Lancaster, Scranton, Reading and Harrisburg.
